It’s a new year, and there is no time like the present to dial-in your training and your eating habits!
Whether you’re a new member (welcome!) or an established member of the Foundry, now is a great time to start eating for performance. Here at the Foundry, we have found that the best way to “eat for performance” is to eat real food. This type of approach to eating is commonly referred to as Paleo.
In its most basic form, eating Paleo is eating high quality meat, seafood and eggs, plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy sources of dietary fats. No calorie counting, no weighing your food, just eating unprocessed, whole foods. While this goes against what many of us have been taught about how to eat a balanced diet, this approach is a simple way to optimize your health and fuel your workouts.
Interested? Of course you are. Here’s some help to get you started:
- Coach Noah ran a seminar on Saturday breaking down the Whole30 program – a 30-day road map to eating the Paleo way. If you missed it, and want to participate in our Whole30 Challenge, talk to him at the gym or shoot him an email at noah@thefoundrychicago.com.
- As a member of the Foundry, you get our 81-page Nutrition Guide – FOR FREE. These are located at the gym, and any staff member can get you a copy upon request.
- Check out the Whole9Life website for helpful information, online forums, and recipes!
Many of our staff and members have had success with eating the Paleo way. Benefits include lost weight, more energy, and faster recovery from your workouts. Not only will you look better, you’ll feel better too.
And just for fun…here’s a Paleo Diet Flowchart, in case you’re wondering, “Is this Paleo?”
It’s 2014 – make it your best year yet!
