Hello Foundry-goers and Friends!
The Foundry will be hosting a Memorial Day Murph WOD this upcoming Monday, May 25th. Doors open at Union Station at 9:30am, group kicks off the first run at 10:30am, bulk of work is done at Printers Row, and the final run meets back at Union Station where a BBQ full of food, drink, and fun awaits!
While we may be excited that Memorial Day is a day off of work, a chance to eat and drink at mid-day BBQ’s, and the opportunity to flaunt your American Flag swag, we must not forget what the holiday is really about– why do we celebrate it?
Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor the men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. For some of you, this may hit closer to home than for others.

The Murph hero WOD was originally posted on CrossFit.com on August 18th, 2005 by Lauren Glassman. The description read as follows:
“In memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, of Patchogue, N.Y., who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.
“This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it Body Armor. From here on it will be referred to as “Murph” in honor of the focused warrior and great American who wanted nothing more in life than to serve this great country and the beautiful people who make it what it is.
“Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you’ve got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.”
The Foundry will be offering 3 versions of this Hero WOD: individual, partner, and teams of 4. Everyone will run the miles, but if you are in a team of 2 or 4, you can partition the work between everyone.

Please join us for this fun and special community event! Come out to honor and dig deep for your MURPH, whoever that may be.
Of course, there will be food and (adult) beverages to follow! The Foundry will provide meat and beer, but please bring a dish or beverage to share. Bring your fellow athletes, friends, and family members, too!
