5 Excuses For Not Joining The Spartan Program (And What To Do About Them)

As you may have heard, The Foundry is running an 8-week program to improve your running and comprehensively prepare you for the upcoming Spartan Race June 10/11 in Richmond, IL.  The pre-sale is sold-out, but after speaking with the coaches, we decided to open up a few additional spots for those who may have missed it.

If you’re on the fence, here are some excuses people give for NOT signing up, and what you should consider instead.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be a badass this Summer!

1) I can’t participate in the race

Although participation in the Spartan Race is encouraged and you will have a ton of fun competing with Team Foundry, it’s not required to participate in our program.  Participants will dramatically improve their running for any event, whether it be a 5k/10k/half marathon/marathon, an obstacle course race, or even your regular workouts!  If you are considering the Chicago Marathon or Triathlon, this is an excellent way to start building your endurance and improve your running technique.

2) My endurance sucks

That’s what the training is for, silly!  We promise that if you commit to the training, you will have an enjoyable and successful race day.  Furthermore, you’ll gain confidence from taking on this challenge that will benefit your training for the rest of the year!

3) I’m not a member

The program is available to both Foundry members and the general public.  If you are a member, expect to see improvements in your running as well as your endurance in workouts.  If you’re not a member you can expect to see your strength and endurance improve for race day as well as in all aspects of your life.

4) I don’t have time to train

Yep, heard this one before.  If we added up the time you spend on Facebook/Insta/#viceofchoice per day we could find the time.  In 4-5 hours/week, we’re going to train you to kick ass on race day.  Whether this is your first Spartan or you’re a veteran, Spartan SGX @ The Foundry will help you improve your performance.

5) It’s too expensive

For the same price as the Chicago marathon, we’re going to provide you with 25+ hours of coaching and workouts.  It includes video analysis of your running gate, nutritional guidance, and mobility.  Did I mention we will also be there to coach you through the race?   Skip going out to dinner twice or give up Starbucks for the duration of the program and you’ll make it back – plus you’ll be a lot fitter for it!

Foundry Coach Jeff AriasJeff Arias

Coach Jeff has been working in the fitness industry since 2010.  He is a certified Spartan SGX coach and holds dozens of additional certifications including CrossFit Endurance, Eleiko Strength, USA Weightlifting, CrossFit L2, and many more.  He has run numerous endurance programs at The Foundry and has competed in many Spartan and other Obstacle Course Races across the USA.

 

 

Greg Colding Professional Coach at The FoundryGreg Colding

Coach Greg has been a coach since 2010.  He holds numerous certifications including CrossFit, CrossFit Endurance, and USA Weightlifting.  Greg has always held an interest in endurance sports, and has finished top 10 multiple times in various Obstacle Course Races.  He has led multiple endurance programs been an instructor of pose running method since 2011.
